7 vehicles were present, representing a good mix of manafacturers: Vitara x2, Prado, Pajero, Terrano, Surf & Feroza. It was a beautiful day for it, not a breath of wind and sun shining. The road to Hells Gate is in very good condition and there is now a large hole on the city side of Hells Gate. The seals were there and the kids all got some pictures of them, with some even managing to step in some seal poo!
The sand was quite damp and had good traction so everyone had a good fun run through to the bay before Old Terawhiti Station where we had a very relaxing lunch in the sun.
The trip back was uneventful…well until the Surf decided it was going to sit on it’s belly in the sand, and the Pajero and Terrano close behind then had to stop also! Before long it was just 2 Vitara’s and the Prado unstuck. Iain got the Rev out and onto safe ground, then Brendan got stuck trying to rescue the Surf, so we hooked Iain up and then he got stuck also! I rescued Iain then we decided it may be prudent to start winching at this point with only 2 out of 7 unstuck! Everyone was rescued and then we carried on our way and noticed everyone was a bit shy of the sand on the way back to the roadend!
Thanks to everyone that came for making it an awesome cruisy day out in the sun, very enjoyable!
